Workforce Development

Where we are

Since April 2011, Root Cause has been working with the Human Services Data project to identify the appropriate indicators to measure success in the workforce development subsector and to develop a draft taxonomy of these indicators. To date, Root Cause has conducted desk research, two surveys with New York City workforce development providers, and a series of interviews. We also held two focus groups involving a combination of workforce development providers, New York City agencies, and private funders.

On August 9th, Root Cause held a working group session with 10 workforce development providers. At the meeting, we discussed definitions and/or criteria for 7 key performance indicators identified through Root Cause and its collaborative efforts with the New York City Workforce Cabinet, a working group comprised of several city agencies.

Request for input

Root Cause is seeking input from workforce development providers to finalize the definitions and criteria discussed during the August 9th working group.  We appreciate you taking the time to provide input on each of the two sections outlined below:

Performance Indicator Definitions: Please review the definitions. In particular, the definitions may contain antecedent terms that require further definition. We welcome your feedback on the definitions and antecedent terms.

Benchmarking Filters: In order to benchmark your organization against your peers, what type of filters would you like to have available to ensure accurate comparisons? Below, we have provided a list of possible filters. If there are other filters that are not part of this list that you feel are more useful, please include them and their corresponding categories. If you agree with a filter, but not with the proposed categories, please provide alternative categories.
